Background

Having worked on a diverse range of projects, Russell enjoys creating architecture of any scale or type. While working in San Antonio, he has played a key role in several downtown adaptive re-use projects which are revitalizing the city’s urban core. Russell’s experience as project architect provided the opportunity to work on a range of historic conversion projects such as the St. Anthony Hotel which modernized San Antonio’s 1903 grand hotel while preserving it’s rich character. Similar projects followed including an addition to the historic Aztec Theater Building that introduced a new elevated pavilion above the San Antonio Riverwalk. Other diverse project types include working on the recently completed Travis Building Renovation which converted the 1923 historic office building into upscale residences; blending original found materials with contemporary aesthetics. Current work includes new multi-family projects and the highly anticipated Artista Hotel sited along the Riverwalk. In his free time Russell likes to play sand volleyball, sketch, swim, or walk his dog. He and his wife Felicity enjoy everything San Antonio including Fiesta, local restaurants, and museums.
