SENIOR ARCHITECT

Having worked on a diverse range of projects, Russell enjoys creating architecture of any scale or type. While working in San Antonio, he has played a key role in several downtown adaptive re- use projects which are revitalizing the city’s urban core. Russell’s past experience as project architect with Overland Partners provided the opportunity to work on a range of adaptive re-use projects such as the St. Anthony Hotel which modernized the historic 1903 building while preserving it’s rich character. Similar projects followed including an addition to the historic Aztec Theater Building that will introduce a new elevated pavilion above the San Antonio Riverwalk. Other diverse project types include working with the San Antonio Zoo on the Animal Hospital Addition which serves as a veterinary medical care facility as well as promotes public learning of the zoo’s conversation efforts. Various other institutional client types have included Baylor University, which Russell was involved in creating two new residence halls and a dining pavilion, as well as work with the University of Texas in which he was part of the design team for the new Student Activity Center and Liberal Arts Buildings.

Prior to living in Texas, Russell was part of the architectural firm PGAL located in Alexandria, VA which specialized in aviation facility design. This provided a beginning to his experience on projects of both complexity and range in scale including a design role on Terminal 3 at McCarran International Airport.
